‘Tis the season to be jolly or so the refrain goes. It is usually super stressful. Work still has to be done, often before your firm closes for the festive season, and yet there are parties and jollies taking you out of the office; school concerts and plays to attend; piles of cards to write and parcels to be wrapped. You really need Santa’s little helpers to get everything done but you probably aren’t lucky enough to have any.

Of course, most of us love all the fun and frolics, the food and drink, the family and friends getting together at this time of year but we still have to get the job done which will pay the January credit card bills.

So, when the client raises a tricky question or you need to know what developments have occurred during the month you want to know as quickly and painlessly as possible. You could try sending a letter to Santa but I guess mostly you will ‘google it’.

There are huge international publishers out there who provide comprehensive legal materials; through, at times, an impenetrable maze of Boolean searches and the like at a significant cost. There are free daily digests that pop up in your in box most days from organisations and professional bodies but somehow you never have time to read them and they don’t necessarily come with any tips or analysis as to what a particular case or other development means to you.
