LawSkills Consultancy & TrainingWelcomeWho are LawSkills? LawSkills was set up by Gill Steel in 2000 to help law firms and individuals win, satisfy, retain and understand their clients and their staff. Having been a practising private client solicitor with a well known large firm of lawyers in the south of England, Gill knows at first hand what kind of problems lawyers face when handling difficult client issues. We have a wide experience of preparing and presenting training programmes on technical matters in Wills, Probate, Trusts, Tax and Skills development. LawSkills is accredited by the Solicitors Regulation Authority as an authorised provider of training courses for Continuing Professional Development purposes. LawSkills also provides development opportunities and what might be termed “soft skills” development such as Self management, Change management, Customer relationship management, Team building, Coaching & Mentoring, through conferences, workshops, in-house sessions, one-to-one discussion or online lectures. Lecturing engagements: Gill is a well-known conference speaker and has gained an enviable reputation by her hands-on approach and amusing style. Her lively approach to the subject sets her apart from others. She provides practical assistance that enables the delegate to use the ideas in their approach to difficult client matters. Technically at the forefront in her field Gill can provide training for all levels of expertise depending on the brief. Conference sessions are regularly prepared for Central Law Training (the main legal training supplier), Probate Section of the Law Society, STEP, Law South, Professional Conferences and many more including recently on-line lectures for CPD4Lawyers. Consultancy projects: Gill has designed administrative systems for use in firms and supplied consultancy, training and development on a bespoke basis to organisations such as Title Research, Law South, Blake Lapthorn Tarlo Lyons, Withers, Dickinson Dees, Mayo Wynne Baxter, Irwin Mitchell and many others. Who we are As well as being a sole practitioner, Gill is a member of the Law Society’s Wills & Equity Committee, the Association of Taxation Technicians and STEP. She also holds an MBA in Legal Practice. Sue Hoath is Gill's Personal Assistant and runs the office on day to day basis.
