If you are a law or accountancy firm or a STEP member and need a second opinion or specific advice on a particular client matter I will be pleased to help. I can also provide more generic advice on a point of law better knowledge of which could benefit your law firm in the long term.

Background:
I set up The Gill Steel Law Practice in January 1996, specialising only in Wills, Probate, Trusts and Tax. From the outset the firm has specialised in advice to Law firms' private client departments in my specialist areas. I qualified as a solicitor in July 1983 and worked in private practice first with Faithfull & Bowker and then, following a merger, with the large southern-based law firm, White & Bowker. I was a partner at both firms culminating in being Head of the Private Client department for five years. I am a member of the Law Society's Wills & Equity Committee, STEP and the Association of Taxation Technicians.

Trying to keep up to date with the changes in legislation and trying to resolve difficult client matters can be testing and time consuming. By outsourcing your technical queries in Gill's specialist areas of Wills, Probate, Trusts and Tax you will have legal technical assistance at your fingertips.

If you would like to consult me my working practice is along the following lines:

Initial contact made with my firm via, telephone, email, post or fax outlining query.
My office will respond with Terms of Business and if necessary, a request for any further information required to provide advice and a fee estimated.
I will then respond with a likely timescale for completion of the work and a fee estimated
On receipt of your response to the above the matter will be placed in our system. Normal response times are approximately 8 to 10 weeks from date of full instructions and papers received.

Please note that I do NOT hold clients' monies within the terms of the Solicitors Accounts Rules 1998 and neither am I authorised by the Financial Services Authority.
